About Nautisch NDSM
A nature-inclusive, multifunctional urban block on the banks of the IJ in Amsterdam Noord.
A former shipyard located on the banks of the IJ, NDSM Wharf has blossomed into a lively district appreciated by many. Nautisch NDSM, a new urban block, will add a diversity of residences, restaurants and office spaces to the mix.
A place where massive tankers once entered the IJ, now the NDSM Wharf is like a city within a city. Here, urban pioneers are giving shape to a new urban district with room for everyone.
Nautisch NDSM is a part of this exciting development. Directly at the water’s edge with the best possible view over the IJ and the lively marina, Nautisch NDSM is a building ensemble that is just as multifunctional and mixed as the area itself.
Created in collaboration with the Municipality and Altera Vastgoed, Nautisch NDSM consists of 268 apartments, an office building and commercial facilities, a courtyard garden, a parking garage with 140 parking spaces and facilities for bicycle parking. The bustling atmosphere and rawness of the yard are reflected in the chosen architecture. A green inner garden forms the social heart of the building ensemble and offers space for residents to meet and relax.
Sustainability & art
Thanks to a WKO heating installation, solar panels and the courtyard garden, Nautisch NDSM scores high on the ladder of sustainable and nature-inclusive construction. The construction of this building for the mid-rental segment, moreover, responds to the great demand for affordable housing. With a direct connection to the boardwalk and spectacular waterfront views, living and working here will surely be a unique experience.
Together with light artist Wouter Brave of XbrightFX, G&S& created a special design that will be placed in the deck garden. The artwork symbolizes life force and connects to the creative and cultural of NDSM. Made from old parts of former high voltage pylons from the north of the Netherlands, this light installation definitely adds to the unique appeal of Nautisch NDSM.
